An integral ultrasound transducer/pipe structure for flow imaging

A description is given of the design of an integral transducer-pipe structure suitable for both transmission-mode and reflection-mode ultrasound flow-imaging measurements. Data acquisition requirements for flow imaging are discussed. Preliminary experiments are presented to verify the design predictions. The structure is robust and reliable, and it eliminates the drawbacks of the conventional ultrasound data-acquisition techniques used in ultrasonic flow metering.
